Workshop Description
In this live online workshop your child will program a virtual 3D robot to clean a coral reef. Students will learn important programming concepts like sequencing, algorithms, loops, conditionals, events and more. They will also learn robotic concepts like drivetrains, sensors, movement, and foundations of mechanics, physics and engineering.
The goal of the workshop is for students to collect as much trash from the coral reef as possible with their robot before the batteries run out. They should also be careful not to damage the delicate coral around the reef.
The field of robotics is absolutely booming. Everything from cars to thermostats and appliances are all tied to robotics and hardware engineering. If you’re excited by the thought of being an Aerospace engineer or designing the next robotic creation, then you can get a nice start on the right path with our workshop.

Teaching Platform
VEXcode VR is an easy to use platform that allows you to code a virtual 3D robot. VEXcode VR is based on VEXcode, the same programming environment used for VEX 123, GO, IQ and V5 robots.
Concepts Learned
Robotics concepts learned will be things like event detection, automated robot motion optimization, and much more. These robots are pre-built. Use drivetrains to navigate. Use sensors to help solve challenges.
During the workshop students will learn and implement the following concepts:
Programming statements: if/else, loops, while and random.
Variables: use variables to store information.
Sensors: use gyroscope, tachometer, touch and color sensors
Skill Level
Our Robotics workshop is aimed towards beginner/intermediate coders. No coding experience is required.
